The Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Debt Relief Act, 1981

This legislation provides debt relief mechanisms for residents of the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. Following the 2019 merger of these territories and subsequent government adaptation orders, the Act was officially published in 2022 to verify and implement debt relief provisions from the original 1980/1981 legislation. It helps debtors obtain relief from their debts through a formalized legal process within this newly created union territory, ensuring eligible residents can be protected from overwhelming financial obligations under established government policies and regulations established by parliamentary authority at the Union level.
