Bare Act
The Indian Forest (Chhattisgarh Amendment) Act, 2014
This Act amends the Indian Forest Act, 1927, as applicable to Chhattisgarh, to enhance the legal framework for forest protection and management of forest offences. It regulates the seizure and custody of tools, vehicles, and produce involved in forest crimes, ensures conflict-of-interest protections by transferring cases if the investigating officer was involved in the seizure, and criminalizes attempts and abetment of forest violations. It applies to individuals, forest officers, and law enforcement in Chhattisgarh. By empowering senior forest officers to compound eligible offences through monetary compensation, it aims to streamline enforcement, deter illegal deforestation, and protect state natural resources efficiently.
