The Chhattisgarh Krishi Upaj Mandi (Amendment) Adhiniyam, 2024

Short title and commencement. -

1. (1) This Act may be called the Chhattisgarh Krishi Upaj Mandi (Amendment) Adhiniyam, 2024.
2. (2) It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

Amendment of section 2. - In sub-section

1. (1) of section 2 of the Chhattisgarh Krishi Upaj Mandi Act, 1972 (No. 19 of 1973), -
   • (a) in clause (ix), the words "or contract farming" shall be omitted;
   • (b) after clause (ix), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:- "(ix-a) "Contract Farming" means any agreement or contract, by whatever name called, made between the producer and the contract farming sponsor for farming of notified agricultural produce;".

Amendment of section 4.—In section 4 of the Chhattisgarh Krishi Upaj Mandi Act, 1972 (No. 19 of 1973) (hereinafter referred to as the Principal Act),—

1. (1) In sub-section (1), for the word "two", the word "one" shall be substituted.
2. (2) After sub-section (2), the following shall be added, namely:— "(3) The State Government may, by notification, exclude any area from the market area notified under sub-section
3. (1) of section 4.".

Amendment of section 6.—In section 6 of the Principal Act,—

1. (1) In sub-section (1), for the word "two", the word "one" shall be substituted.
2. (2) In sub-section (5), for the word "two", the word "one" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 36A.—In the principal Act, in section 36A,—

1. (1) for the heading, the following shall be substituted, namely:— "Exemption from payment of Mandi fee under certain conditions."
2. (2) In sub-section (1), for the word "exemption" the words "exemption from payment of Mandi fee" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 36B.—In the principal Act, in section 36B,—

1. (1) for the heading, the following shall be substituted, namely:— "Exemption from Mandi fee on certain goods."
2. (2) In sub-section (1), for the word "exemption" the words "exemption from Mandi fee" shall be substituted.
