Bihar Public Works Contracts Disputes Arbitration (Amendment) Act, 2020
Bihar Public Works Contracts Disputes Arbitration (Amendment) Act, 2020
This legislation amends the 2008 Arbitration Act specific to Bihar's public works disputes. It modifies the section determining the service terms of the Chairman and Members of the tribunal. These officials will now serve for a fixed term of three years or until they turn seventy, whichever occurs sooner. Additionally, the state government is granted the power to remove these members for incompetence, misconduct, or engaging in paid employment while in office. This change aims to ensure tribunal members act with responsibility and adhere to legal standards, thereby strengthening the arbitration process for construction contract disputes in the state.
