Amendment of section 2 of Bihar Co-operative Societies Act, 1935 (Act VI, 1935)

In the Bihar Co-operative Societies Act, 1935 (Act VI, 1935) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), section 2 shall be amended as follows, namely:- (1) Sub-section (c) shall be substituted by the following: "(c) "Board" means the board of directors or the governing body or managing committee, by whatever name called, to which the direction and control of the management of the affairs of a co-operative society is entrusted." (2) Sub-section (jj) shall be substituted by the following: "(jj) "Office bearer" means a president, vice-president, chairman, vice-chairman, secretary or treasurer of a co-operative society and any other person to be elected by the board of any co-operative society." (3) After sub-section (t), the following new sub-sections (th), (d), (dh) and (n) shall be added, namely:- "(th) "General Body" means all the members or all the representatives of the members of that co-operative society collectively." "(d) "Chief Executive" means the managing director of the committee as specified in the rules or bye-laws of the co-operative society." "(dh) "Backward Classes" means and includes the list of citizens of backward classes as specified in Schedule-2 of the "Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1991" (Bihar Act No. 3, 1992), as amended from time to time." "(n) "Extremely Backward Classes" means and includes the list of citizens of backward classes as specified in Schedule-1 of the "Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1991" (Bihar Act No. 3, 1992), as amended from time to time."
