The Andhra Pradesh University Acts (Amendment) Act, 1986

Short title and commencement.—(1) This Act may be called the Andhra Pradesh University Acts (Amendment) Act, 1986.

1. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette, appoint.

Amendment of section 2.—In the Andhra University Act, 1925, in section 2,—

1. (a) after clause (a), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:— '(aa) "Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the University;';
2. (b) for clause (b), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:— '(b) "Affiliated Institution" means any college or institution situated within the University area and affiliated to or approved by the University and providing courses of study for admission to the examinations for degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinctions of the University and includes an autonomous college;';
3. (c) after clause (b), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:— '(bb) "Autonomous College" means any college on which the University has conferred the status of autonomy;';
4. (d) for clause (c), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:— '(c) "College" means a college maintained by or affiliated to or approved by the University in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the statutes and ordinances;';
5. (e) after clause (d), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:— '(dd) "Constituent College" means a college maintained by the University;';
6. (f) for clause (i), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:— '(i) "Registered Graduate" means a graduate registered under the provisions of this Act;';
7. (g) after clause (i), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:— '(j) "Registered Teacher" means a teacher registered under the provisions of this Act.'.

("Amendment of section 18")

In section 18 of the principal Act, in sub-section (2), for clause (c), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:—

1. (c) three teachers of the affiliated colleges to be nominated by the Government in the prescribed manner.

("Amendment of section 24")

In section 24 of the principal Act, in sub-section (2), for clause (a), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:—

1. (a) the Chancellor;

Amendment of section 27.- In section 27 of the principal Act, for the words "every five years", the words "every three years" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 29.- In section 29 of the principal Act, in sub-section (2), for the words "every five years", the words "every three years" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 30 In section 30 of the principal Act, in sub-section (2), for clause (a), the following shall be substituted, namely:—

1. (a) the Vice-Chancellor;

Amendment of section 38 In section 38 of the principal Act, in sub-section (2), for clause (a), the following shall be substituted, namely:—

1. (a) the Vice-Chancellor;

Amendment of section 43.—In section 43 of the principal Act, for the words "every constituent college and every affiliated college", the words "every constituent college, every affiliated college and every autonomous college" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 44.—In section 44 of the principal Act, for the words "every constituent college and every affiliated college", the words "every constituent college, every affiliated college and every autonomous college" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 45.—In section 45 of the principal Act, for the words "one hundred and fifty", the words "two hundred" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 46.—In section 46 of the principal Act, for the words "one hundred and fifty", the words "two hundred" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 49.— In section 49 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), for the words "every University shall, within such period as may be prescribed", the words "every University and every affiliated college shall, within such period as may be prescribed" shall be substituted.

Amendment of section 50.— In section 50 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), for the words "every University shall, within such period as may be prescribed", the words "every University and every affiliated college shall, within such period as may be prescribed" shall be substituted.

Amendment to the existing University Acts:

1. (a) If any difficulty arises as to the first constitution or re-constitution of any authority of the University under this Act, or otherwise in giving effect to the provisions of this Act, the Government may, by notification in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette, make such provisions, including any adaptation or modification of any of the provisions of this Act, or the relevant University Act, as appear to them to be necessary or expedient for the purpose of removing the difficulty.
2. (b) Every notification issued under sub-section
3. (a) shall, as soon as may be after it is issued, be laid before each House of the State Legislature.
4. (c) No amendment shall be made to any of the University Acts in so far as they relate to the matters governed by this Act, except in accordance with the provisions of this Act.

Repeal of Ordinance 5 of 1986

1. (1) The Andhra Pradesh University Acts (Amendment) Ordinance, 1986 is hereby repealed.
2. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act.
