The Andhra Pradesh Transferred Territories (Repeal and Extension of Laws) Act, 1962
The Andhra Pradesh Transferred Territories Act of 1962 resolves legal confusion in regions moved from Madras State to Andhra Pradesh following a 1959 boundary change. It regulates which local laws apply by officially repealing old Madras State rules in these transferred areas and extending active Andhra Pradesh laws to them. The Act applies directly to the residents and administrators living in these newly transitioned border territories. It matters because it establishes a single, unified legal system under Andhra Pradesh authority, while fully protecting the validity of prior legal actions to ensure a seamless transition for everyday citizens.
