The Indian Penal Code (Andhra Pradesh Amendment) Act, 1991

1. (1) This Act my be called the Indian Penal Code (Andhra Pradehs Amendment) Act, 1991.
2. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Andhra radesh' Gazette, appoint.

Substitution of section for section 354.

2. In the Indian Penal Code, 1860, for section 354, the following section shall be substituted, namely:-

"Assault or 354. Whoever assaults criminal force or uses criminal to woman with force to any woman intent to out- intending to outrage rage her modesty her modesty or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby outrage her modesty shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than five years but which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable to fine:

Provided that the Court may, for adequate and special reasons to be men- tioned in the judgment, impose a sentence of imprisonment of either description for a term which may be less than five years, but which shall not be less than two years."
