The Andhra Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1968
The Andhra Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1968, regulates the removal of illegal occupants from government and public properties across the state. It applies to any individual or entity occupying public land, buildings, or corporate spaces without lawful authority. The law empowers specially appointed estate officers to issue show-cause notices, execute evictions, dispose of abandoned belongings, and recover unpaid rent or damages. It matters because it provides a streamlined legal mechanism to protect public property from misuse while ensuring occupants receive proper notices, fair inquiries, and the right to appeal.
