Short title, extent and commencement

(1) This Act may be called the Andhra Pradesh Slum Improvement (Acquisition of Land) Act, 1956. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Andhra Pradesh. (3) It shall come into force in any municipal corporation or municipality in the State on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette appoint: Provided that, before issuing such notification the Government shall publish in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette, a notice of their intention to do so, fix a period which shall not be less than two months from the date of publication of the notice for the municipal corporation or the municipality concerned to show cause against the issue of the notification and consider its objections, if any.
