Compoundability of offences

Compoundability of offences:

1. (1) Any offence punishable under this Act may, before or after the institution of prosecution, be compounded by the Registering Authority or such other officer as may be authorised by the Government in this behalf, on payment of such amount as may be prescribed.
2. (2) Where an offence has been compounded under sub-section (1), the offender, if in custody, shall be discharged and no further proceedings shall be taken against him in respect of the offence so compounded.
