Andhra Pradesh Splitting up of Joint Pattas Act, 1965
The Andhra Pradesh Splitting up of Joint Pattas Act, 1965 provides for dividing joint land ownership titles, known as pattas, into individual titles across the state. Applying to co-owners of land excluding Hindu joint families, the law ensures that anyone acquiring property through inheritance, sale, gift, or partition receives a distinct individual patta. It empowers revenue officers, including Tahsildars and Collectors, to settle sub-divisions, recover costs proportionally, and ensure local village revenue records are updated. This legislation matters because it secures individual land rights, prevents boundary disputes, and simplifies future land transfers for property owners.
