Andhra Pradesh Public Sector Undertakings (Reconstitution of Management) Act; 1996
The Andhra Pradesh Public Sector Undertakings (Reconstitution of Management) Act, 1996 reorganizes the governance of state-owned enterprises in Andhra Pradesh to ensure their effective operation. The law mandates that all non-official Chairmen and Directors serving across state public sector undertakings immediately vacate their positions. By overriding existing corporate bylaws and other legislation, it grants the state government direct authority to remove officials, update the list of covered entities, and reconstitute boards without civil court intervention. This legislation matters because it enables the government to swiftly reform public sector leadership and improve administrative efficiency.
