This Act lets unclaimed dead bodies be used for medical teaching and research in anatomy and pathology. Officers authorised by the State Government can hand over bodies left unclaimed in hospitals, prisons and similar places to medical institutions listed in the Schedule. Any doubt or dispute over who is a near relative entitled to claim a body is referred for decision, and police and other officers must assist.
