This Act makes lotteries unlawful in Andhra Pradesh and punishes running, promoting or advertising them. Newspapers and other publications carrying lottery advertisements can be forfeited. Police have powers to enter and search premises, arrest without warrant in certain cases and investigate offences. Many of the Act's original provisions, including those on licensed lotteries, have since been omitted.
