The Andhra Pradesh Gaming (Amendment) Act, 2020
The Andhra Pradesh Gaming (Amendment) Act, 2020 updates the state’s primary gambling laws by significantly raising penalties for illegal gaming offenses across Andhra Pradesh. It applies to individuals, organizers, and facilitators involved in unlawful gambling activities or running common gaming houses. By replacing outdated financial fines and short jail terms with substantially higher monetary penalties and extended imprisonment sentences, the legislation aims to create a stronger deterrent against illegal betting and gaming practices. Ultimately, this amendment modernizes law enforcement capabilities to protect citizens from the financial and social harms associated with unauthorized gambling.
