The Andhra Pradesh Contingency Fund Act, 1957 establishes a dedicated emergency financial reserve, known as the Contingency Fund, for the State of Andhra Pradesh. Created pursuant to Article 267(2) of the Constitution of India, this legislation sets aside fifty crore rupees from the state’s Consolidated Fund into an imprest fund managed by the government. It authorizes the state government to formulate rules for managing these resources while repealing older regional acts from Madras and Hyderabad. - 3. Power to make rules - The State Government may, by notification in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette, make rules for the purposes of carrying into effect the provisions of this Act.
- 4. Repeal - The Madras Contingency Fund Act, 1950 (Madras Act XIV of 1950) and the Hyderabad Contingency Fund Act, 1952 (Hyderabad Act XLIII of 1952), are hereby repealed.
- 5. Interpretation – 1[The Andhra Pradesh General Clauses Act, 1891 (Act I of 1891)] apply for the interpretation of this Act as it applies for the interpretation of an Andhra Act.
