Chapter I PRELIMINARY

Short title, and commencement - (1) This Act may be called the Tripura Tea Companies (Taking Over of Management of Certain Tea Units) Act, 1986. (2)

Definition Definition - (1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "appointed day" means the date of commencement of this Act; (b) "custodian" means the person, Co-operative Society or body of persons appointed under section 4, to take over the management of the tea units; (c) "tea company" means a company (being companies as defined in the Companies Act, 1956) specified in column 3 of the first schedule; (d) "tea Unit" means a tea Unit specified in column 2 of the first schedule; (2) Words and expressions used in this Act but not defined shall have the same meaning as respectively assigned to them in the Tea Act, 1953 or the Companies Act, 1956.
